Finishing the year with MLB Base 2 ICONs

Get ready for the final MLB ICON drop of 2023!

Following a record-setting MLB season, we’re ending the year on a high note with the Base 2 ICONs collection. Base 2 is a continuation of our flagship Base 1 drop, both in drop structure and design, and includes an additional 100 of the league’s top talent. These packs feature stars like Mike Trout, Ronald Acuña Jr., Adley Rutschman, and the first MLB ICON of Elly De La Cruz. 

On top of that, Base 2 ICONs also include debuts of the top rookies who made their league debut after the 2023 MLB Rookie ICONs drop. This is your final chance of the year to lay claim to the players who shaped the 2023 season, across all five ICON rarities (Core, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary) – plus an exciting array of inserts that unlock exclusive digital and IRL prizes!

Drop Details

These flagship digital collectibles will be available starting Wednesday, December 13 at 1pm ET.

• There will be no early access for this drop
• The secondary marketplace for Base 2 packs will be closed for one week (opening December 20 at 1pm ET) or until packs are sold out. Unwrapped Base 2 ICONs may be re-sold immediately.

Base 2 Inserts

Every Base 2 pack you purchase has a chance of including 1 of 15 Player Inserts featured in this drop (750 total inserts), which follow the same theme as previous 2023 ICON drops, featuring different players.

• The Past ties into the heritage and tradition of baseball and collecting and is designed to look like a tobacco card. 
  • Featured players: Jeremy Peña, Adley Rutschman, Jose Altuve, Kyle Tucker, Max Scherzer
• The Present connects us to the excitement of young stars playing today and the current moment in baseball.
  • Featured players: Trea Turner, Anthony Volpe,Randy Arozarena, Gerrit Cole, Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
• The Future represents how the sport may evolve in the days to come.
  • Featured players: Bryce Harper, Shohei Ohtani, Jordan Walker, Mike Trout, Mookie Betts

And don’t forget – we’ll be running an Insert Collection Challenge that goes live right when Base 2 drops. It will be active until 1pm ET on January 16th, 2024 (terms linked here). Those who collect all 59 Past/Present/Future Inserts that are released from 2023 ICON Drops (excluding Wander Franco) will earn an Insert Reward Pack containing exclusive MLB stars in a reimagined version of the insert design. Win Prizes

Base 2 will also feature this year’s final batch of Special Prize Inserts, which you can use to unlock rewards like physical signed memorabilia from MLB stars, as well as 2023 This Month in Baseball and Plays of the Week packs.

A total of 15 Special Prize Inserts will be randomly slotted into both Standard and Premium packs, and a snapshot will be taken on February 27, 2024 at 5pm ET. Whoever owns a Special Prize Insert at that time can redeem it for a prize (terms linked here).

You’ll be able to list your Player Inserts on the secondary marketplace up until the snapshot takes place. From then on, all Base 2 Special Prize Inserts will be locked from being sold on the secondary marketplace.

Base 2 packs will remain on sale until the start of the 2024 MLB season or while supplies last. At the end of the sale, we will vault 10% and burn 90% of unsold inventory. Prior to burning, we will remove all legendaries and epics from packs and they will be vaulted.
