The latest installation of Gems, dropping on May 14, gives fans a chance to own the first highlights of MLB stars in their new threads.

The baseball offseason often brings change for fans and big leaguers alike.

Through free-agent signings and blockbuster trades, familiar faces arrive in new cities, join new teams, and rock new uniforms (literally).

All of it helps set the stage for the upcoming season. 

Now, more than a month into the 2024 regular season, fans have witnessed countless memorable moments.

What would make it even better is giving fans a chance to OWN and FLAUNT the biggest moments from some of the league’s best in their new threads.

Well, lucky for you, we did just that. Let’s take a closer look.

Now Batting: 2024 Fresh Threads 🤌

We knew we needed to drop a new series of Gems—the premier MLB on-field highlight collectible—that commemorated the firsts for each star on their new team.

That’s why 2024 Fresh Threads will feature forty-five (45) Gems of your favorite, most groundbreaking, stadium-shaking FIRSTS of the MLB season.

Each individual Gem will also be paired with a must-own highlight from the current major league season.

We’re talking Shohei Ohtani’s first dinger donning Dodger blue, Juan Soto’s first bomb as a Yankee, and Jackson Merrill’s first major league hit as a Padre.

Drop Details

2024 Fresh Threads will be available starting Tuesday, May 14 at 1 pm ET.

• Where: Candy.com/mlb
• Transaction/Account Limits: 5 packs per transaction, no account limit.
• There will be no early access for this drop.
• The secondary marketplace for 2024 Fresh Threads packs will be closed for one week (opening May 21 at 1 pm ET) or until packs sell out. Unwrapped 2024 Fresh Threads may be re-sold immediately.

Another Fresh Design 😮‍💨

When we mean fresh, we mean fresh.

Here’s the breakdown of what collectors can expect from this latest set of Gems:

• 2024 Fresh Threads highlights players in new uniforms, merging their past and present appearances.
• The design takes a literal approach to visualizing seams, stitching, and materials as digital collectibles.
• Each highlight features a sewn framework that integrates unique color combinations.
• Color branding for rarities includes:
  • Mint Green for Uncommons
  • Blue palette for Rares
  • Purple/Foil for Epics
• Enhancements include:
  • Branded logos on the front
  • Monograms on the backs
  • Player's number and position
  • Play type featured
• Based on feedback, a frame from the highlight has been added to differentiate Gems in collections better.
• Chaser assets maintain traditional conventions but add a still image of the highlighted player with a silver or gold color scheme.

And like we’ve said before, these will look pretty, pretty, pretty sweet in an Infinite Object.

Suit Up for Challenges 👊

Another Gems drop means another shot for collectors to chase an all-time chaser, Candy League Reward Packs, and some Candy League points.

Here’s the rundown on 2024 Fresh Threads Challenges:

2024 Fresh Threads Full Set Collection Challenge

Anyone who collects every Gem in the 2024 Fresh Threads set, thus completing the Full Set Collection Challenge, will earn themselves a Shohei Ohtani Chaser Gem, and believe us when we say it’s a keeper!

Finishers of the challenge will also be rewarded 400 Candy League points.

This challenge goes live on drop day, May 14, @ 1 pm ET, and closes on July 2 @ 5 pm ET.

2024 Fresh Threads Partial Set Challenge

Anyone who collects 18 out of the 45 Gems in the 2024 Fresh Threads set will earn themselves a Juan Soto Silver Chaser Gem.

Finishers of the challenge will also be rewarded 100 Candy League points.

This challenge goes live on drop day, May 14, @ 1 pm ET, and closes on June 4 @ 5 pm ET.

UPDATED: 2023 Top Traded Players Collection Challenge

Anyone who collects 5 out of the 16 Gems (formerly known as Highlights) from the 2023 season will earn themselves a Candy League Reward Pack. The plays involved in this challenge will be announced when the challenge goes live.

Finishers of the challenge will also be rewarded 50 Candy League points.

This challenge goes live on drop day, May 14, @ 1 pm ET and closes on May 28 @ 5 pm ET.
