There’s a time and a place for everything. Candy is no exception.
So, I was chatting it up with my neighbors again and we got on the topic of road candy, as in the candy you’d pick if you were going on a lengthy road trip. It’s probably not the same candy you’d pick if weren’t heading out on the highway.
For example, if I were driving from Chicago to Minneapolis, I’d buy the giant box of Milk Duds. If I were milling around waiting to pick up a prescription at Walgreens, I’d probably pick up a bag of Dove Promises. Drilling down further, if it was December 1 and I was killing time at Walgreens, I’d pick up Dove Peppermint Bark Bites.
I’m getting off track. My point is that we associate different candies for different environments. I seem to think Car = Milk Duds. Back in her college days, my neighbor said she downed Red Hots and coffee before exams. For her, Library Cubicle = Red Hots. (My neighbor did well in school, so the fiery combo must have worked.)
This all brings me to my next and last point. Thank g-d, right?
At the movie theater, I typically buy (or smuggle in) Twizzlers. while my daughter always gets a box of Nestle Buncha Crunch. Those aren’t our all-time favorite candies, but they are our all-time favorite theater candies.
